Shawn MooringShawn Mooring is part of a team directing the Pew Fund Capacity Building Program, a grantmaking and technical support effort to increase the organizational effectiveness of Pew Fund grantees.He is also a member of the teams evaluating the College Access and Success Program, the Chicago Community Trusts Arts Education Initiative, and the Ford Foundation's Arts Education Initiative and Leadership for a Changing World.Shawn contributed as a primary researcher on a pilot project for the Annie E. Casey Foundation, which explores the role of nonprofit boards in strengthening social capital in their communities.He is administering and monitoring grants by the Pew Fund for Health and Human Services in Philadelphia.
Prior to joining OMG, he was a Senior Program Officer at Public/Private Ventures (P/PV).At P/PV, Shawn provided technical assistance and oversight to sites participating in two national demonstration projects addressing issues facing high-risk youth -Community Change for Youth Development (CCYD) and the National Faith-Based Initiative for High-Risk Youth (NFBI).CCYD was a six-year, multi-site initiative offering participating communities a framework for promoting youth development, a set of research-based "core concepts," and a strategy for implementing them.NFBI was a seven-year, twelve-site demonstration testing the effectiveness of collaborations between local faith-based institutions and juvenile justice and law enforcement organizations.These collaborations sought to provide the community's most vulnerable youth with productive alternatives to crime and violence.Before joining P/PV, Shawn was a Program Associate at the Ford Foundation where he assisted in the development of the Community Youth Development Initiative.
Shawn holds a B.A. from Hampton University, and a Master's Degree in Public Administration with a specialization in Community Development from the University of Delaware.
