Her 19-year-old granddaughter, Alyshia Moore, a recent graduate of Memorial High School in St. Marys, is scheduled for deployment for a year, through next March, while she serves as a military policeman with the Army National Guard, something she signed on to do when she was 17.

Another female recruit, Alyshia Moore, who is a senior at Memorial High School in St. Marys, has been with the Army National Guard for the past eight months.She says she signed up with the Guard for the challenge."I love everything about it," she said about joining the military."It's great."

She explained she has an uncle who was in the marines for four years, and later served in the Army National Guard.
