Cherry Road students and faculty were privileged to hear presentations from Mr. Alvin B. Moore and Mrs. Bonnie Jamerson celebrating cultural diversity and heritage.

Mr. Alvin Moore is a member of the West Oak Grove Church of Christ in Hernando, Mississippi, an Associate Vice-President of Equity Capital Markets with Morgan Keegan and Company, a graduate of Jackson State University with B.S. degrees in Business Administration and Performing Arts, the director of the North Mississippi A Capella Chorus,and a former performer with "O'Landa Draper and the Associates" and Billy Joel.

Mr. Moore told the history behind the writing of the Negro National Anthem*, written by noted black poet and civil rights leader James Weldon Johnson in 1900.
