Jesse F. Monroe
Mr. Monroe has been with the ASF since October of 2001.He first undertook the monumental task of heading the new Grant Writing Department.On his own he paid for an attended Grant Writing Classes through the North East Community College Continuing Education program.He became a Certified Grant Writer in May of this year.
However, after some reorganization of the Board of Director's, Mr. Monroe felt that his volunteer efforts would be best placed as the Administrative Assistant to our CEO, Mr. J. Nathan Javine.

Mr. Monroe, stepped down from his Grant Writing responsibilities in March of this year when the Board of Director's hired a full time Grant Writer with many more years experience.

Born in Chicago in 1948, Mr. Monroe came to the ASF as an individual with a varied and multifaceted background and several college degrees.He received his first Master's Degree in the area of Accounting and his second in Business Administration.Working for many years in the Hotel Industry until moving to California in 1984.Where he changed careers and also began what was to become an ongoing Volunteer career.
He volunteered for many years with the AIDS Project Los Angeles where he was an administrative assistant to the Director of Client Services in their West Hollywood Offices.After leaving the APLA he acquired certification from the State of California and spent several more years as an End Stage Care Giver working with AIDS Patients.
Upon his arrival to San Antonio he spent the first year and a half caring for his significant other of 16 years as his caregiver.After the death of his s/o Mr. Monroe dove head first into the GLBT Community here in San Antonio and brought back to life his alter-ego.After much persuasion by friends he decided to reprise his stage career and as an Impersonator helped to raise vast sums of money that were donated to the local AIDS Organizations here in the city.Mr. Monroe put his alter-ego back into permanent retirement in January of this year and now with his new lover and many friends spends most of his time helping the ASF with efforts to help educate our GLBT youth.
The ASF is proud to have him onboard.
