New York (Tuesday, October 16, 2001) - Major League Soccer announced today that San Jose Earthquakes Defender Troy Dayak has been named recipient of the ACE Comeback Player of the Year Award and Chicago Fire Athletic Trainer Rich Monis has been named the ACE Athletic Trainer of the Year.

Rich Monis was named as the 2001 ACE Athletic Trainer of the Year.This award is given to the MLS Athletic Trainer who while faced with the challenges of injury and illness to his or her players, experienced measurable success during the 2001 season.Monis is noted for displaying outstanding reliability, dependability, efficiency, accessibility, rapport with players, quality care and professionalism.Having served as the Fire's head athletic trainer since 1998, the 1999 MLS Athletic Trainer of the Year is a certified member of the National Athletic Trainers Association.Monis is a graduate of the University of Illinois-Chicago.
