    Obituary : Carol Mary Monahan

    Carol Mary Monahan passed away on Wednesday , Oct. 24 , 2001 , at her home , succumbing to lung cancer.

    She was born in Billings on Feb. 7 , 1928 , to Philip and Vera Savaresy.She graduated from Billings Senior High in 1945 , and from the University of Montana with a bachelor of arts in music in 1949.Carol was a member of Delta Gamma sorority , the Jubileers , Spurs and Mortar Board.

    In 1954 , she married Thomas Gregory Monahan in Billings and they resided in Van Nuys , Calif..

    Carol started her career as a travel consultant with Thru The Lens Tours in North Hollywood in 1963.She and Tom returned to Billings in 1971 , where she continued working in travel until 1985 , when they moved to Helena.She retired as manager of Livery Travel in Helena in 1990.

    Following the death of her husband Tom in 1992 , she returned to Billings to be close to family and friends.

    Carol was also preceded in death by her parents and husband.She is survived by her loving sister and brother-in-law , Phyllis and Harold Johnson of Billings ; son and daughter-in-law John and Elizabeth Monahan of Ridgecrest , Calif. ; son Stephen of Billings ; son and daughter-in-law Philip and Janice Monahan of Phoenix.She has one granddaughter , Jammie , who with her husband Lincoln Potter of Billings gave her a beautiful great-granddaughter , Analyse.She is also survived by two nieces and one nephew and their families ; and brother-in-law John Monahan of San Carlos , Calif..Carol was blessed with many good friends.

    Cremation of Carol's remains and internment of ashes at Mountview Cemetery will precede memorial services , which will be held 11 a.m. Monday , Oct. 29 , at St. Luke's Episcopal Church in Billings , with Fr. Gary Waddingham officiating.A reception will follow in Cardwell Hall at St. Luke's after the memorial service.

    Michelotti-Sawyers Mortuary has charge of arrangements.

    In lieu of flowers , memorials are suggested to Big Sky Hospice , PO Box 35033 , Billings , or to St. Luke's Episcopal Church , 119 N. 33rd Street , Billings , or to a charity of choice.
