Ajay Mittal, the Chairman of supply-chain and logistics solutions provider Arshiya International, said that the drought-like situation in many parts of the state and farmers' suicides were grave issues that needed to be addressed on a priority basis.
Another point he raised was that while Mumbai contributed a substantial portion to the central exchequer by way of taxes, not much of it was being ploughed back into the city for its development.
"This is an aspect that needs looking into," he said.
After the Bandra-Worli sea-link, there is now a need to build the Sewree-Nhava Sheva link, he said, adding, "however, this should be done in quick time and not take as long as the Bandra-Worli sea-link.
