"The number of male patients is increasing noticeably and they commonly ask for procedures such as botox and face-lifts," he says."Twenty years ago, it was not like this.There were not this many clinics in Dubai.But plastic surgery has become more available now with qualified professionals practicing here."

Although there are many clinics in Dubai, Dr Mitry feels the competition is healthy and insists plastic surgery is not "just fashion that people should follow".Instead, he believes potential patients should carefully do their research and make sure they are not taking the decision based on any emotional inadequacy.

"I do not believe in over indulgence and our surgeon does not encourage extra procedures.

"No one wants to look like they just stepped out of a wax museum, and all things must be in moderation," says Dr Mitry "Also, people with psychological problems will always blame their looks, therefore, it's very important to differentiate."
