Mr. Mitchell is a Partner of Decision Strategies in the Calgary office.Mr. Mitchell's professional interests focus on implementing the Integrated Decision ManagementÔ approach in large corporations, the value of the decision analysis approach, and integrating decision analysis techniques with existing corporate processes.
Before joining Decision Strategies, Mr. Mitchell worked for Nova Corporation of Alberta in the NOVA Gas Transmission business.Mr. Mitchell was selected to the "Decision and Risk Analysis" (D&RA) advisory team after leading business transformation teams in 1993.Prior to moving to his role in the business transformation project, Mr. Mitchell managed the environmental planning group responsible for all environmental impact assessments and environmental regulatory approvals for new projects.From 1995, Mr. Mitchell was a full-time process expert, providing internal consulting services to business teams throughout the Transmission group.His mandate was to work with project teams to ensure that high quality decisions were being made in NGTL.In addition to working with project teams, Mr. Mitchell took the lead in developing new approaches to training and decision process improvement.It was during this time that Mr. Mitchell worked closely with Decision Strategies to develop the strategy for training and decision process implementation for NGTL.
Following the merger of Trans-Canada and NOVA, Mr. Mitchell was invited to join Decision Strategies Inc. as Partner.
Mr. Mitchell has a B.Sc. in Geology and a Master of Environmental Design (Sciences).He is a member of the Petroleum Society, the Society for Decision Analysis and the Institute for Operations Research and the Management Sciences.Mr. Mitchell has been very active in the Decision Analysis community, and served as chairman for the Decision Analysis Affinity Group (DAAG) meeting in San Francisco, and chaired the "Value of DA" section for the 1999 meeting in Orlando.
