On the football field, Wofford senior inside linebackers James Mitchell and Seth Goldwire always line up next to each other.

...
And even though Mitchell is 4 inches taller, he seems to stay in Goldwire's shadow.
Mitchell was one of Wofford's top performers again last week with 11 tackles in the 38-37 overtime win against Georgia Southern, but the all-conference Goldwire stole the show with 11 tackles, two interceptions, including one for a touchdown, and was named the Southern Conference defensive player of the week.
...
"He's automatically got 10 tackles going into every game," Mitchell said."If he gets more than that, it's a bonus.I always kid around with him about that."
Mitchell, meanwhile, is quietly having a breakout season.
...
This year as the full-time starter, Mitchell is sixth in the league with 8.2 tackles per game.
...
James has been very consistent.
...
Mitchell and Goldwire actually took their official recruiting visit together and have been friends ever since.
...
"We're comfortable with each other," Mitchell said."I know pretty much what he's going to do on every play, and he knows the same about me.That happens over four years when you're around each other so much.We understand each other, I guess."
As for the attention Goldwire gets, it doesn't bother Mitchell.
"I've never been jealous of him at all," Mitchell said.
