In a letter to AMPC Chair and University Physical Plant Administrator (UPPA) Leoncio Miralao Jr., Vice President for the Loyola Schools (VPLS) Ma.
    ...
"We want to be operational [and] AMPC as a cooperative is really out to provide service to the community," Miralao said."We would like to continue the service, but we would also like to cooperate with [the] Loyola Schools. There are new developments and it's felt that we shouldn't be there."

Need for a satellite cafThe Satellite Cafeteria began operating in November 2004.According to Miralao, University President Fr. Bienvenido Nebres, SJ, suggested the idea of having one to former VPLS Anna Miren Gonzalez-Intal, Ph.D.
    ...
"Mura yung pagkain namin and filling compared to what you would pay outside (Our food is cheap and filling compared to what you would pay outside)," Miralao said.

"And then if you were to go outside, [it's far] and you only have 30 minutes for [a] break before you go to your next class."

Before, the AMPC only operated until 7PM.But when the Satellite Cafeteria opened, it extended operations until 830PM."[We] even [stay] until nine o'clock kung marami pang estudyante (We even stay until nine o'clock if there are still many students)," said Miralao.

Great effect to operationsMiralao also said that unlike other concessionaires, the AMPC is a cooperative made up of students and Ateneo personnel. It also gives assistance to scholars and organizations like Pathways to Higher Education.

He added that because of the Satellite Cafeteria, they were able to support more scholars through meal subsidies.

"We were able to increase our food grant [to] scholars. [From] PhP10,000 a month, we were able to increase it to PhP20,000," he said.

Due to the closing of the Satellite Cafeteria however, Miralao said that AMPC operations were greatly affected.Aside from having to cut down on employees, he said that they may have to cut down on their support for scholars.

"We'll try to hold on as long as we can," he said."If we can help it, we may maintain, but we may have to cut down the free meals for scholars."More affordable than others

Miralao also said that while it is true that the Ateneo needs coffee shops like Figaro, not everyone can afford to buy from it.

"I sympathize with a lot of graduate students who come from work and who probably enjoy goto and mami at a reasonable price," he said.
    ...
In the letter addressed to Miralao, Cuyegkeng also said that the Satellite Cafeteria may transfer to Bellarmine Hall Room 102, which can be renovated.
    ...
Miralao, however, said that they are not very enthusiastic about the idea since they do not have a market there.

This was the first time in years that a robbery incident happened inside campus, said University Physical Plant Administrator Leoncio Miralao.

    Vigilance

Because of limited information on the incident, Miralao said he is not optimistic that the robbers will be caught.

Campus Security Head Sgs.Avelino Guzilan said, however, that University security officers would be more vigilant of cars going in and out the campus.Security guards will also stay until 10 pm, an hour longer than the usual 9 pm, to ensure better campus security.

Miralao also urged students to be more vigilant. He added, "Security will be more effective with the cooperation of the community, with everybody helping out."

While being detained, Tomalden gave different versions of the story to security personnel, University Physical Plant Administrator (UPPA) Leoncio Miralao Jr., and The GUIDON.

Tomalden told The GUIDON that she went to the Ateneo to accompany "Tita Ning," her family friend.
    ...
They then brought her to Miralao and other personnel for questioning.

"Kinakabahan na po ako nun kasi ,asa akin yung cell phone (I was already nervous because the cell phone was with me)," Tomalden said."Wala narin po akong intensiyon ibalik.Simula pa [noon], di pa ako nakakatikim ng cell phone (I had no intentions of returning it.Until then, I've never had a cell phone)."

Miralao said that Tomalden also dropped the cell phone's SIM card in the security personnel's vehicle while the guards were on their way to bring her to Miralao.

They were able to recover the SIM card, and return it to the victim along with her cell phone.

Tomalden's age and address were not established. At different times, she claimed she was 24, 27, 29, and 31 years old.She also claimed that she lived at three different addresses

Tomalden also repeatedly begged security personnel to release her.

Eventually, she was released since the victim did not file charges.
    ...
Miralao added that thieves are thus able to come back again and again.
