A Fable by- Daniel W. Miller

To a family of frogs of very excellent croakers living in the fine community of Nottingly Pond was born a young frog that, strangely enough, could sing, so they called him Singo. However, the surprised parents of this strange frog became very unhappy, if not disillusioned, when, at the age that most frogs croaked beautifully, they found he could only sing.In this community, it was a disgraceful disability to be unable to croak in proper fashion. This unpredictable behavior became intolerable for a worthy frog family. Both father and mother frogs desperately tried to teach Singo to croak but to their shame, and to his own dismay, he could only sing.As a frog, both he and his parents felt that he was a total failure.Once in a while a little girl frog thought his singing was pretty, but he could never believe her, and he continued to try to croak so that his voice would please his parents by being more like theirs and other frogs. His brothers nnd sisters poked fun at his funny sing-song voice and his schoolmates never chose him for their teams because they could not have anybody with a voice like that playing leapfrog on their side.It would crack the team up in hysterics every time he opened his mouth, and it ruined the game.In school, his teachers placed him in retarded classes because he was unable to concentrate on his schoolwork and he received very bad grades. He grew up this way as an outcast in every group of frogs from childhood onward believing that he was the most stupid frog in the whole world of frog ponds, even though he became very proficient at catching flies and bugs that skimmed over the water since he had a lot of free time to practice. In his teen years he became even more miserable because his voice, which should now be used to call pretty female frogs, was so weird that no self-respecting little girl frog would pay serious attention to him.He would mope while sitting on pieces of driftwood and he became so depressed he thought about ending it all, for instance, by drinking too much polluted pond water, but the idea of such a death itself was too painful to contemplate for long.As he grew older he became desperate to find a lady frog who could accept him despite his disability, and to anyone who would listen at all he promised to study faithfully if they would only give him croaking lessons ...

Do You Have A Vocation, Career or Job? -- Dan Miller

Are You Losing Your Soul? -- Dan Miller
    ...
" It pleased Darius to appoint 120 satraps to rule throughout the kingdom, with three administrators over them, one of whom was Daniel. Now Daniel so distinguished himself among the administrators and the satraps by his exceptional qualities that the king planned to set him over the whole kingdom."(Dan 6:1-3).

Notice in this passage that Daniel was an administrator over 120 satraps in the Persian government of King Darius.Daniel was the model civic worker. He did his job well and that is why he was respected by his boss and became the source of jealousy by the other workers.

Daniel W. Miller Remembered ... THE HOUSE OF THE SINGING FROG In the first week of the month of May 2006, the dreamer who thought up of Casa Del Coqui Cantando, a man of great genius who contributed much to lives too numerous to count, passed away.He lived his life to the fullest and was to the very end making plans for the future..... MAIN PAGE || SIGN OUR GUESTBOOK || PHOTOS || LA CASA Coqui Cantando

Live Life God has blessed me with magnificent friendsAnd I count Daniel among them.
    ...
Dan was a collector, a playwright, a poet, a painter, an author, and possessed a keen scientific mind that was open to new ideas and concepts.

Daniel and I shared so many interests that it would take more than my five minutes time I have today to list them all here. This is but a little of what I respected, admired, and loved in Dan.

If there is anything I can say about the loss of so good a friend, its that it has taught me of the urgency of living one's life rather than just simply coasting along.

We can make our plans, ... ... but as it was with Dan, tomorrow, at least in this life, is not promised to any of us.

Daniel did his best to live life and not let any opportunities go unexplored or unexamined.
    ...
Daniel refused to drift, and he refused to be anchored to any spot for long, there was still too much yet to see, too much of life to live.

Brilliant as he was, he hungered yet for more knowledge, more of the mysterious, more life.Daniel was in search of the divine, the very spark of humanity, what he called- human consciousness.I've read his published works and find that he was close. So very close.

This search, is part of living life ...

I'd like to close today by sharing the greatest lesson Daniel taught me.I believe this lesson is a challenge to me even today, and perhaps it may also call out to some of you sitting here.It is a challenge to fearlessly step out and explore life, with all its joyful moments, all it's complexity, variety, tragedy and glory.Dan challenged me to step forward and press on, he did this simply by his example; by the life he lived.
    ...
But the real challenge is not in the asking but to keep asking, to continue seeking, because you see, Daniel never stopped looking, he never hesitated to turn the next page.I pray that those of you today who take up this challenge, find the answers you seek, and that in finding these answers, you may still hunger for more, and never sink into the trap of complacency, because you can get too comfortable.

Complacency has no place in living life ...

Daniel would never have been complacent ...

I refuse to do it, and I pray that all of you here today not be complacent, but rather that you would choose to live life.

This is, I feel, the very best way that we can honor the memory of this man who was my friend, ... ... Doctor Daniel Miller.
