  Betsy Miller-Jones provides training, facilitation and board development services to Oregon school district, ESD and community college boards. Betsy has six years experience as an elected school board member and prior experience with executive search services and board training with the New Hampshire School Boards Association. She is a nationally recognized board trainer, presenting the past four years at the National School Boards Association annual convention and at other state conferences. She recently redesigned OSBA's Board Development Training Plan, and has developed and presented workshops statewide on Board Roles and Responsibilities, Goal Setting and Strategic Planning, Running Effective Meetings, Role of the Chair, Board Operating Agreements, Leading Even When You are Not in Charge, Superintendent Evaluation and Building a Strong Leadership Team. Betsy has a bachelor's degree in engineering from Duke University and a Master's Degree in Business Administration from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

  Oregon School Board Association Leadership Recognition of the Medford School District School Board: Betsy Miller-Jones, Associate Director of OSBA, explained the OSBA staff travels to Board meetings during the month of January to present Leadership Institute Awards.She distributed a press release and flyer, noting this is the third year the Medford School District Board has earned this recognition, an outstanding accomplishment.

  Betsy Miller-Jones, leadership services associate director from the Oregon School Board Association, instructed the committee about the selection process.
  
  The first order of business for committee members was to sign a confidentiality agreement, in which they agree not to discuss prospective applicants to anyone outside the committee.
  
  Next, Miller-Jones told the committee it will screen 14 candidates, instructing them on scoring and rating the applicants.

  The committee members were also instructed by Miller-Jones on the do's and don'ts of the screening process, such as do keep an open mind, and don't discriminate against any candidate because of age, sex, marital status, race, national origin, religion or disability.
