Betsy Miller-Jones, leadership services associate director from the Oregon School Board Association, instructed the committee about the selection process.
The first order of business for committee members was to sign a confidentiality agreement, in which they agree not to discuss prospective applicants to anyone outside the committee.
Next, Miller-Jones told the committee it will screen 14 candidates, instructing them on scoring and rating the applicants.

The committee members were also instructed by Miller-Jones on the do's and don'ts of the screening process, such as do keep an open mind, and don't discriminate against any candidate because of age, sex, marital status, race, national origin, religion or disability.
