    Senior Warden Priscella Miles believes quality made The Geo Group the attractive choice when time came for the Texas Department of Criminal Justice to award the next five-year-contract for the Bridgeport Correctional Center.

    At a barbecue luncheon hosted last Friday, Miles announced that The Geo Group contract had been extended until September 1, 2010.

    "As with any business, it's a tough situation," Miles said of the contract renewal process.

    Miles said the state is always concerned with cost when awarding contracts but believes quality of service was a major consideration.

    "There are companies that that have the potential to cut salaries and do it at a cheaper rate, and we were not willing to do that," Miles said.
