    Philip Miles '41 Celebrates 50 Years of Fighting Fungus Emeritus professor of biological sciences at the State University of New York (SUNY) at Buffalo and an internationally recognized expert in mycology, or the science of fungi, Philip Miles '41 recently celebrated his 50th anniversary of teaching at the school. The occasion was recognized with a presentation by SUNY-Buffalo's president at the university's annual Celebration of Academic Excellence.

    Miles, who also received the Chancellor's Award for Excellence in Teaching in 1998, continues to teach one course each semester and is currently writing a textbook, Biology of the Fungi: Principles and Effects on Health. Somehow this Lawrentian, who supports student aspirations here at Lawrenceville through the Richard C.
