Dr. Peter L. Miles

PETER L. MILES, SENIOR ASSOCIATE -

Dr. Miles is President of Peter L. Miles Consulting Inc., which has undertaken consulting assignments for government and companies in Canada and internationally on various aspects of energy regulation.

From 1982 to 1994, he was a senior official of the National Energy Board where he managed all staff work related to economic regulation of international and interprovincial oil and gas pipelines and to the export of energy commodities.He developed new procedures for licensing exports of natural gas - the Market-Based Procedure-and electricity, which were consistent with the contemporary energy policy environment and market conditions.He also represented the Board at major intergovernmental meetings on Canada-US energy trade.

Prior to joining the NEB, Dr. Miles held several important positions in the federal government of Canada, including Employment and Immigration Canada, the Economic Policy Secretariat of the Privy Council Office and at the Bank of Canada.He has a Ph.D., Economics, and a B.A., Honors Economics from the University of New Brunswick.
