Meucci Originals was founded by Bob Meucci in Olive Branch, Mississippi in 1975.He had started in the cue business in the late 1960s at National Tournament Cues in Chicago, where he worked with Richard Helmstetter. The son of an inventor and industrial engineer, Bob has made a reputation as one of the most innovative cue makers in the business. His designs range from traditional spliced cues to artistic cues with intricate inlay work in the forearms replacing the points. He was one of the first cue makers to build cues for the collectible cue market. His ornate cues inlaid with gold and gemstones, such as the "King James" and "Taj Mahal," commanded record prices when they debuted, and have doubled or tripled in value since then.Meucci makes all the parts for their cues at their current plant in Sledge, Mississippi, where they moved in 1998.For over 25 years most of their cue wraps are offered with finish over the wrap, which Bob believes is more attractive and practical (no chalk stains), as well as providing an unbroken feel and texture when moving the grip hand to different positions. In recent years, the focus of the Meucci innovations has been in the development of high-tech shafts. This bird's-eye maple cue was built in the 1980's.
