After graduating Wayne University in Detroit with a degree in Business Administration, Bob started a window manufacturing company.He served on the national Board of the Architectural Aluminum Manufacturers Association and the United Way of Oakland County, Michigan.Fifteen years later he sold his business and ventured into commercial real estate, soon becoming a VP of the Detroit Board of Realtors.Bob moved to San Diego in 1976 where he pioneered the consumer video industry.In 1980 he became an owner and CFO at Voice & Video Inc., a respected commercial video equipment sales organization.Bob joined the Torrey Pines Kiwanis Club as a charter member in 1982.He has been on their Board for over 22 years and was the president of the club in 1987.He was a co-founder of The La Jolla Festival of Arts, and served as the Site Chairman for 20 years and as General Chairman in 2001.He was treasurer of the Torrey Pines Kiwanis Foundation for over 10 years.
In 1996 Bob and his wife Judy joined Congregation Beth Israel and immediately became involved in Temple activities.In 2001 he co-chaired the Social Action Committee.He was co-founder of the Stand With Israel Committee and its Adopt-A-Family program.Bob continues to be an active member of both of these committees.He was named Volunteer of the Year for 2002/03.
With his wife Judy, they served on the Shalom Committee for 8 years.Bob rescued a slipping Christmas Day CBI tradition and re-named it "Volunteer for a Volunteer" and has led it for the past 9 years.He also founded the "CBI-USO Project", and has been an active participant and leader in many other CBI programs throughout the years.Bob joined Beth Israel's Men's Club Board and was elected President for the term July 2007, through June 2009.
