Adrian Metcalfe International President , The Eye Group
Adrian Metcalfe has spent his life in sport and media. He is currently acting as a media consultant and strategist to The Eye Group in London.
In 1998 , Metcalfe became executive publisher of WorldSport.com , the largest official Web site on the Internet , and remained until its unfortunate liquidation in late 2000. In 1994 he flew to Atlanta to become the director of TV production for the 1996 Olympic Games , then returned to London as chairman of APITV. Prior to that Metcalfe was director of programmes at Tyne-Tees Television with responsibility for all genres of programming and sat on the ITV controllers group. In 1989 he set up Eurosport as the first Pan-European satellite channel reaching over 25 million homes. A silver medalist in the Tokyo Olympics , 1964 , he went into sports TV in London. Starting with ABC ( U.K. ) and London Weekend , he spent four years as the host and producer of the CBS Sports Spectacular. He then set up Channel 4 in the U.K. creating huge audiences for NFL and sumo among over 90 sports featured.
