    Dr. Merrill is a Hospitalist, specializing in the care of hospitalized patients and a member of the United Memorial Medical Staff.He is Board Certified in Internal Medicine and Preventative Medicine.He attended medical school, residency and received a master's degree in epidemiology at the State University of New York at Buffalo.He received a master's degree in journalism from Columbia University, and a BA from Dartmouth College.Dr. Merrill is the author of the book Vitamin D: Antidote to Winter and the Darkness and has written several feature articles for the Buffalo News.He has also served as a clinical instructor in the departments of Medicine and Preventative Medicine at the School of Medicine and in the School of Pharmacy at SUNY-Buffalo.Dr. Merrill resides in the Buffalo area.

    As Interim Medical Director, Dr. Merrill will provide the leadership and direction necessary to develop and implement the medical policies established by the CEO and Board of Trustees for United Memorial Medical Center.Dr. Merrill will serve as executive leadership to the areas of medical education, physician development, medical staff affairs/credentialing, and provide guidance to the Medical Staff as appropriate.

    An organized search for a permanent Medical Director is currently being planned.
