Megan Merrill has become the first teenage girl to ever complete the prestigious self-defense combat course at Thunder Ranch in Texas.The private combat training facility is known nationally for teaching weapon skills to air marshals and pilots.Merrill, 15, spent all last week in training at the facility in Mountain Home, Texas, along with her father.She is the daughter of Larry Jr. and Dalene Merrill of rural Monroe County, and is a student at Eddyville-Blakesburg High School.

The polls have closed, and Katie Diggins, Angel Rivera, Meagan Merrill and Jason Sondhi will be serving students from the IU Student Association office this fall.
