Marylou Merrill
SOUTH PORTLAND - Marylou Merrill, 54, died Jan. 1, 2002, at the Maine Medical Center following a brief illness.She was born in Portland, a daughter of Frederick and Margaret (Fitzgerald) Rench, and was educated in Portland schools.Mrs. Merrill was a member and past president of the ladies auxiliary of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6859 in Portland, and a member of the Harold T. Andrews Post American Legion and the South Portland Eagles.Her interests included her family and caring for neighborhood children.Survivors include her husband of 14 years, Donald C. Merrill, Jr. of South Portland; her mother, Margaret (Fitzgerald) Rench, of South Portland; a daughter, Lisa J. Cypress of Florida; two sons, Frederick J. Greene of Portland, Anthony R. Greene of South Portland; two brothers, Philip Rench of Ohio, Joseph Rench of Scarborough; five grandchildren; several nieces, and nephews, aunts and uncles.Visiting hours will be 1-4 p.m. Saturday, at Hobbs Funeral Home, 230 Cottage Rd., South Portland, where a funeral service will follow at 4 p.m. Ritualistic memorial services by the V.F.W. Post 6859 Ladies Auxiliary will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday.
