    On a more sober note, I would like to observe the passing of Kathy Woody, Nathan Vasale, and Mary Merrill, friends who have recently transcended passed.

    Mary, a classic lady, member of the local GCA Kanawha Garden Club and lifetime gardener, will always be remembered by me.She was a customer when I first started work with TerraSalis.The subtle way she gave me horticultural tests and encouraged great work and the pursuit of knowledge will always be held in esteem.

    Mary Louise Merrill

    Mary Louise Merrill, 87, of Charleston died April 3, 2003, at Charleston General Hospital.

    She was secretary-treasurer and co-founder, with her late husband, of Merrill Photo Supply Co. and was secretary-treasurer of Tyler Mountain Water Co. for the past 30 years.Mrs. Merrill was baptized into the congregation of First Christian Church of Charleston.Upon marriage, she joined the Kanawha United Presbyterian Church, where she was a member for 66 years.She graduated from Charleston High School and attended Sweet Briar College in Virginia.She was a 50-year member of the Kanawha Garden Club, (an affiliate of Garden Club of America), and the Ethel Evans Circle of International Order of King's Daughters.

    Mary was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, John Buffington Merrill; her sister, Dorothy Agnew Hood; and two brothers, Ernest and James Agnew.
