"This is actually our biggest year ever," said John Merchant, business community liaison for RJCC.Merchant said there were 40 students shadowing people in the community this year, along with five student government association executive committee members in Santa Fe shadowing state legislators.

The program gives students an introduction to the profession that they might not find in the classroom, Merchant said.

"It gives them a chance to work side by side with a person who's doing what they are aspiring to do as a career," he said.
