Mike is a native of Rockmart, Georgia who practices in the firm's Cedartown office.

After graduating from Rockmart High School in 1968, Mike attended the University of Georgia, receiving an ABJ degree in Journalism in 1972.He then attended Mercer University Law School receiving his JD degree in 1975.While at Mercer, Mike served on the editorial staff of the Mercer Law Review and received a Teaching Fellowship in his third year of law school.

Mike was instrumental in accomplishing a merger of his Cedartown practice with Smith, Shaw & Maddox and became a partner in the firm in 1999.Mike's primary practice areas are complex litigation, transactional law, municipal and local government law, estate planning and criminal defense.

Mike has served on the Georgia State Ethics Commission (2 years as Chairman), on the Georgia Hazardous Waste Trust Fund Advisory Committee (1994-1999).He is also a member of the Georgia and Tallapoosa Circuit Bar Association and the Georgia Trial Lawyers Association.Mike serves as City Attorney for the cities of Cedartown and Rockmart.He has been a frequent lecturer and guest speaker in the area of municipal law.Mike serves as Secretary and life member of the W. D. Trippe Optimist Youth Foundation.

He is active in the First Methodist Church of Cedartown and serves as legal counsel for numerous Methodist organizations, including the Rome - Carrollton District of the United Methodist Church.He and his wife, Beverly, have three children, Ashley, Bobby and Julie Anne.

In 1999, the firm added partners Michael D. McRae and Robert T. Monroe to establish its Cedartown office and expand its geographic base.

Mike is a native or Rockmart, Georgia and practices in the firm's Cedartown office.Prior to becoming a partner with McRae, Stegall, Peek, Harman, Smith & Manning in 1999, Mike was an associate and partner of the law firm of York, Cummings & McRae from 1975 ton 1987.In 1988, he became a partner with York, McRae and York until 1999.
