   Geoffrey McMullen, current president of CEPIS and a ECDL-F board director, will be chairing the symposium at St George's house in Windsor Castle in the UK to be attended by a gathering of 25-30 key players and thought leaders representing Industry, Government, EU, NGOs and Academia to discuss digital literacy and how an international stakeholder network can be established to ensure that the right skills strategies are in place to match the rate of advancement in technology that is impacting on the global village.

   According to Geoffrey McMullen, current president of CEPIS, ECDL Foundation board director and chairman of the symposium, "Windsor Castle was chosen as the venue in order to offer a neutral location for participants, conducive to exploratory discussions of this nature.

   In particular the following areas will be addressed:
   
   Reviewing current approaches to ensure skills development strategies are better aligned to future technology developments A call to action for the achievement of Global Digital Literacy through a multi-stakeholder approach Planning an international Conference on Global Digital Literacy Building on the recommendations of the European e-Skills Forum and the Tunis Declaration agreed at the recent e-skills symposium(WSIS2005)
   
   According to Geoffrey McMullen, "If we can follow the track record established by CEPIS and ECDL-F in establishing an internationally recognised IT training and qualification programme through the highly successful ECDL, there is every reason to believe that a similar programme could be achieved on a global basis within the next ten years."
