Kevin is the Buffalo Branch Manager, a member of the ownership group, and has been with the company for more than 11 years. He specializes in communications and the integration of different hardware platforms and has worked with Windows 2000, 2003, and 2008. Kevin has extensive experience with Novell Netware, Linux, Cisco Hardware and the TCP-IP protocol.

Kevin specializes in large wide area networks that use private lines, VPNs, Proxies, Firewall and Email servers. He is an expert at troubleshooting wide area network communications and performance issues and also has experience developing Internet applications and tools in various languages, including Perl and ASP.Net. He has a Bachelor Degree in Management Science from the State University of New York at Geneseo.

According to Kevin McMahon, Innovative branch manager, the IPCS solution has improved the manageability of Transcat's entire IT infrastructure."Transcat's most pressing challenge was identifying and resolving specific connectivity issues in a very complex NT computing environment," he explained, noting that the IPCS solution simplifies the management of the entire infrastructure."By consolidating all the applications, databases, and servers into a single AS/400, we can monitor the system status from anywhere on the planet, and resolve any problem that threatens the availability of Transcat's data," Kevin said.In addition, backups are easily facilitated by the ADSM storage management system and a model 3570 tape drive with a magazine capacity of 20 cartridges.

"As we move more of their NT functions to the AS/400, Transcat will continue to benefit from the reliability and availability the IPCS environment offers," Kevin concluded.

Kevin recently worked with a large distributor in Rochester to upgrade an aging VPN-based Wide-Area network to an MPLS network supporting over 10 remote locations. The network upgrade reduced costs and improved speed and reliability, while allowing voice traffic to use the same network for additional cost savings and improved communication between branches. The upgrade was performed with zero network downtime and was transparent to end users.

Kevin also has experience developing Internet applications and tools in various languages, including Perl and ASP.Net. He has a Bachelor Degree in Management Science from the State University of New York at Geneseo.

Kevin enjoys working with high school and college teams working on technologies challenges. Recently, he acted as a mentor and point person for a High School team participating in the FIRST robotics challenge at the Rochester Institute of Technology.
