Charles E. McGrath Jr. , 83 , of the Pleasant Mills section of Mullica Twp. died Friday , September 24 at Wm.B.Kessler Memorial Hospital in Hammonton.Born in Elizabeth , NJ , McGrath lived in Lincoln Park , NJ for many years before moving to Pleasant Mills in 1986.He was a retired executive for the Prudential Insurance Company of Newark , where he worked for 35 years , retiring in 1962.He attended Rutgers University for two years.McGrath served in the US Army during World War II.He was a past town councilman from 1952 to 1956 , and served as Captain of the Fire Department and won an award for building Lincoln Park Lake all in Lincoln Park , NJ.He was a member of the Holy Name Society of St. Joseph Church of Lincoln Park.He is the husband of the late Violet M. McGrath ( nee McSweeny ).Surviving him are : two sons , William K. McGrath and his wife Diane , of Pleasant Mills , and Dr. Charles E. McGrath and his wife Janice of Independence , Mo. ; a daughter , Michele and her husband Randall Butler of Sumerdale , Al. ; a brother , James McGrath , of Redondo Beach , Ca. ; and he was the loving grandfather of Megan , Charles IV , Sean , Erin , Frank and Billy.Relatives and friends attended a Mass of Christian Burial on Tuesday , September 28 at St. Martin de Porres Church in Hammonton.Burial followed at Holy Sepulcher Cemetery in Hammonton.Arrangements were made by the Marinella Funeral Home.
