John McDermott has joined the Herald-Standard Editorial Board as its first community member.McDermott was among many applicants who expressed interest in serving a six-month stint, and will join us as we interview candidates and make endorsements in the upcoming primary.McDermott moved to Fayette County in 1986, and is an account executive with Mark IV Office Supply and a realtor with Conn Realty in Uniontown.He was recognized in 2002 as the Fayette Chamber of Commerce's Citizen of the Year, and has been active in many community endeavors, including chairman of the American Cancer Society's Relay for Life from 1994 to2002.
McDermott wrote that he has "an open mind toward new ideas and approaches, take pride in my integrity, and believe strongly in treating all people fairly and with dignity."
