Brownstein Hyatt Farber Schreck is pleased to announce that John V. McDermott, former chair of Holme Roberts & Owen's litigation department, has joined the firm's litigation group as a shareholder.McDermott brings more than 25 years of experience to the firm's Denver office.

As a shareholder in Brownstein's litigation group, McDermott will handle all types of commercial litigation, including securities.He represents public and private companies, their officers and directors, issuers of securities, investment banks, auditors and others in securities matters and other complex corporate disputes.McDermott also represents clients in regulatory investigations by state and federal agencies and self-regulatory organizations.

McDermott has represented individuals and entities in many multimillion-dollar class actions in state and federal courts.In late 2006, McDermott served as lead trial counsel for numerous entities and individuals in a securities fraud trial brought by the Colorado Securities Commission.In this case, the judge ruled in favor of McDermott's clients.

McDermott received a master's of science and a juris doctorate from the University of Michigan.He has been active in the Denver Metro Chamber, the Denver Metro Economic Development Corporation, and the Colorado Competitive Council.
