Ron McDaniel has served as principal of Southside Middle School since the beginning of the 1993-1994 school year.Mr. McDaniel came to Tallassee in 1978 to teach Biology and Physical Science at Tallassee High School.Over the years "Coach Mac" has taught Driver Education, 7th Grade Science and Diversified Occupations at THS and Southside Middle School.

Mr. McDaniel graduated from Lamar County High School in Vernon, Alabama in 1973.He received a BS in Education from Jacksonville State University in 1978.He later earned his MS in Education degree from Auburn University in Montgomery in School Administration in 1989.

Mr. McDaniel enjoys spending time with his wife, Carol, and the rest of the family.Ron and Carol have a daughter Jenny (THS '92) with husband, Corbin, and son, Craig ( THS '04).He enjoys watching his grandson and granddaughter enjoy themselves at the lake.

Mr. Ron McDaniel Principal:

Principal Ron McDaniel said all teachers at the middle school were undergoing training for the Reading Renaissance program.

"All our teachers will now be trained in the program and its software," he said.

McDaniel said he expects enrollment at the school to be slightly up with about 625 students compared to last year's 616.

Tallassee High School

Not only will high school students be able to learn in a construction-free environment this school year, but they will also will see several new faces.

The high school will have a new assistant principal, football coach and band director.
