    She served as a life director on the University of Southern Indiana board of directors for 27 years and as a secretary from 1980 until 1998.She provided leadership to the foundation's executive and nominating committees and was involved in university's fund-raising.She received an honorary doctor of laws degree in 1992 in recognition of her extraordinary service to the university.

    She served as a member of St. Mary's Medical Center Foundation board and chaired its Art Acquisition Committee , helping arrange contributions to the hospital's art collection.She also played a key role in hospital fund drives and special events.

    She was an active volunteer and board member of the Evansville Museum , Day School , Philharmonic Guild , Evansville Arts and Education Council and the Evansville Blind Association.
