   Allied Security Trust (AST) announced today that Daniel P. McCurdy will replace Brian Hinman as CEO.

   In June 2001, Mr. McCurdy became President and Chief Executive Officer of ThinkFire.From March 2000 to June 2001, Mr. McCurdy was president of Lucent Technologies' Intellectual Property Business and chairman of Lucent's intellectual property licensing subsidiaries, which generated more than $500 million in annual revenues for Lucent.While at Lucent, Mr. McCurdy's responsibilities included management of Lucent's patent licensing and patent creation operations (employing more than 300 licensing professionals and attorneys), and management of its 600 worldwide patent license agreements derived from more than 26,000 worldwide patents.From February 1999 to March 2000, Mr. McCurdy was a vice president of IBM Corporation in charge of its market entry into the life sciences information technology market.Prior to joining IBM, Mr. McCurdy was vice president of corporate development for CIENA Corporation, serving on CIENA's senior management committee, directing overall corporate and acquisitions strategy, structuring and negotiating CIENA's licensing, joint development, strategic partnership and merger agreements and managing intellectual property and patent dispute settlements.
   
   Mr. McCurdy has served in a variety of intellectual property management roles, including director of business development for IBM Research and IBM's manager of technology and intellectual property policy.
