Robert McClatchey joined Barclays Capital in 1992 from KPMG where he qualified as a chartered accountant in 1990 and became an Associate of the Institute of Taxation in 1991.
He is currently a Managing Director of Barclays Private Equity.
Before joining Barclays Private Equity in August 1996 he worked for four years in BZW's Corporate Finance Division in London, where he specialised in refinancings and flotations.
These included advising on the successful refinancing of the Wembley Group and the flotation of Pace Micro Technology.
Within BZW Corporate Finance, he also gained significant experience of the electricity and waste sectors with clients in the UK and overseas.
In Barclays Private Equity he has made both industry private equity investments (such as the £150 million buyout of Crystal Holidays) and infrastructure investments and realisations.
These have included the establishment of the University Partnership Programme, the Alert Communications investment with the Ministry of Defence, a number of schools investments, the creation and operation of the Ryhurst join venture for community hospitals, NHS LIFT investments and the private sector PFI investment in SWAN Infrastructure.
In addition he has experience from the larger acute hospitals and airport sectors (Luton Airport Investment).
Robert has an economics degree from King's College, Cambridge.
