CHAPMAN -- Barbara Ann Clennan McClatchey, 60, Chapman, died Friday, Aug. 30, 2002, at a Blue Springs, Mo., care center.

She was born Nov. 14, 1941, in Chapman, the daughter of Vincent C. and Marie M. Kelly Clennan.She graduated from Chapman High School in 1960 and had lived in various locations before moving to Independence, Mo., 24 years ago.

Mrs. McClatchey attended St. Joseph's the Worker Catholic Church in Independence.She was active in the Republican Party in Jackson County, Mo., and was a member of the Republican Leadership Council of Jackson County and the First Thursday Republican Club in Kansas City, Mo.She graduated from the Institute of Children's Literature in 1998 and was the author of a book, "Grandma's Stories."She was past president of the ladies auxiliary to the American Legion in Chapman.
