Dr. McClain received his medical degree from the University of Virginia in Charlottesville, Virginia.He then completed an internship and residency program in general surgery at the Medical College of Virginia in Richmond, Virginia.He received the distinction of Chief Resident from 1998-1999.Dr. McClain completed a fellowship program in thoracic and cardiovascular surgery at the University of Florida Health Sciences Center in Gainesville, Florida from 1999-2001, where he served as Chief Resident from 2000-2001.Dr. McClain also completed a fellowship at the University of Florida Health Sciences.

Dr. McClain is Board Certified by the American Board of Surgery.Dr. McClain is a member of the American Medical Association, Mississippi State Medical Association, and the South Mississippi Medical Society.
