Larimer Square is 'the heart of Denver's nightlife' hosting The Capital Grille, Samba Room, CRU, Rioja and for those who prefer a late night espresso The Market is hands down, your author's favorite. (I actually wrote the bulk of this article at The Market, and while working, noticed Denver's ex-wide receiver Ed McCaffrey sitting just a short distance away ... Celebrity sightings in Denver are seemingly more commonplace these days; perhaps a sign of the city's larger appeal to the tres-chic.)

But Ed McCaffrey has responded with a productive season for the Denver Broncos.
    ...
McCaffrey, who will be 35 next season, is impatient with those who suggest he might be in the twilight of his career, and that his injury might hasten his retirement.

McCaffrey faced an arduous recovery, rehabbing almost daily for 11 months. His regimen included riding a stationary bike, walking on a treadmill and jogging on a treadmill until he began running outdoors last April.
    ...
Sometime during this season, McCaffrey changed his attitude -- from being a receiver coming off a major injury to being a receiver, period.

Tireless in his workouts, McCaffrey surprised many of his teammates by joining them at training camp in July.

Although he still limps occasionally, McCaffrey said his injured leg "feels pretty good."

"There wasn't a lot of time to feel sorry for myself," he said."It took my mind off my leg, that's for sure."

Primed for another big year, his season ended abruptly in the opener on Sept. 10, 2001.Catching a pass over the middle in a Monday night game against the New York Giants, McCaffrey collided with safety Shaun Williams and broke the tibia and fibula in his left leg -- an injury that could have ended his career.

Ed McCaffrey Answers Your Raiders Week Questions

In his eighth season as a member of the Denver Broncos, Ed McCaffrey has become one of the most popular players in team history.Whether he is scoring a touchdown or getting up from a vicious hit, his actions are routinely applauded by the crowd at INVESCO Field at Mile High.

McCaffrey was signed by the club in March of 1995 and was reunited with Mike Shanahan who had just been named head coach of the Broncos. The two had spent the 1994 season together in San Francisco on their way to victory over the San Diego Chargers in Super Bowl XXIX.

The Stanford product arrived in the Mile High City and nailed down a starting role by the 1996 season in which he started 15 games, caught 48 passes for 553 yards and scored seven touchdowns. From there his career continued to grow as he was an integral part of Denver's first world championship team in 1997 and had over 1,000-yards receiving in 1998, '99 and 2000 while capturing a third Super Bowl ring in 1998.He also was named to the AFC Pro Bowl team that season. In 2000, he caught 101 passes which, at the time, established a new club single-season record for receptions.

In 2001, McCaffrey's season ended in the first game against the New York Giants as he suffered a broken left leg after making a catch and was lost for the remainder of the season. This year the wide receiver has returned to start every game and has made 59 receptions for 768 yards with two touchdowns.

With this weekend's key clash in Oakland looming, McCaffrey took time to respond to your questions this week. Here's what Ed had to say:

I'd stopped at a Supervalu in Frasier to get the brats, the cherries, and some condiments, including "McCaffrey's Rocky Mountain Mustard," which has Bronco football player Ed McCaffrey's face on the front.I imagine McCaffrey telling his agent, "I'll never endorse a product I don't believe in.
