    Johnston, GOUtah! contacted Mr. Ed McCaffery, AdvertisingManager of NAC.McCaffery confirmed that NAC is in theprocess of revising their policy regarding gun relatedadvertising, both classified and display, in both papers.

    The current NAC policy is to refuse firearms in the‘Thrifty' classified ads, a lower-cost portion of thegeneral classified section reserved for items under $300.00,and require all firearms to be listed in the far moreexpensive regular section for firearms.

    SPARKS, Nev. (AP) - Ed McCaffrey, an executive with the Newspaper Agency Corp. in Salt Lake City, has been named publisher of the Daily Sparks Tribune.

    McCaffrey replaces Linda Brown, who recently resigned after 10 years as publisher of the 93-year-old newspaper.

    McCaffrey, 56, was vice president of advertising for NAC, which is the advertising, production and business agent for The Salt Lake Tribune and Desert News.

    Two former managers of The Salt Lake Tribune purchased the 6,000-circulation newspaper in Sparks in January.

    McCaffrey began his newspaper career with Sacramento-based McClatchy Co.

    SPARKS, Nev. (AP) - The Daily Sparks Tribune plans to change from an evening to morning newspaper beginning next month with an added emphasis on local news, publisher Ed McCaffrey said.

    The newspaper, which started publishing in 1905, will continue to be delivered seven days a week.It also intends to add more than 500 additional news racks throughout Reno, Sparks and Spanish Springs.

    "As the market has grown and lifestyles have changed, it has become clear that the people of Sparks want their local news in the morning," McCaffrey said.
