Dr. Eric Mayoux, PhD, Advisor in Pharmacology an Preclinical Development.Eric received his PhD in Biochemistry at the University of Paris 7.Thereafter he was a two years fellowship in the laboratory of cardiovascular of NIA/NIH at Baltimore-USA where he measured the contractility and calcium homeostasis of cardiac cells during heart failure progression. He joined Glaxo Wellcome France in 1992 as head of a biology team, leading research programs conducted worldwide by Glaxo Wellcome on heart failure and myocardial infarction.In 2000, Eric Joined Sanofi-Synthelabo as Head of in vitro/in vivo pharmacology group, in the field of Urology and he has the responsability for the field of obesity.In 2003 he was named Clinical Research Director of the Clinical and Exploratory Pharmacology Department where he acquired experience in Phase I studies in conducting QT studies, PK and PK/PD studies. In April 2004, Eric joined CareX, a French biotech company dedicated to discover and develop drugs to treat metabolic diseases.As Director of Pharmacology & Biology of CareX, he proposed several innovative targets for diabetes and obesity.Anticipating the psychiatric side effects of Accomplia® (Rimonabant) he created the concept of peripheral CB1 antagonist for treating Obesity, and develop research program for identifying CB1 antagonists that did not penetrate the brain.Therefore CareX was sold to 7TM (Danmark) in June 2006.Eric is now consultant for several Biotechnology companies focus on Cardiovascular and Metabolic diseases.
