Roger Mayou was born in 1954, and studied at the Universities of Munich and Geneva, obtaining a degree in art history. Mr Mayou was assistant curator at the Museum of Art and History in Fribourg, Switzerland.He later became artistic advisor at the UBS. In June 1998, he was appointed Director of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Museum.

Queen Rania also visited the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Museum in the company of Roger Mayou, the Museum's director.

This visit comes just a few weeks before the publication in Arabic of the ICRC study "Women Facing War".

Queen Rania will launch the book herself in Amman at the end of November 2002.
