IHS Names Ed Mattix as Vice President, Corporate Communications
ENGLEWOOD, Colo., â€" February 28, 2007 â€" IHS Inc. (IHS: NYSE), a leading global provider of critical technical information, decision-support tools, and strategic services, announced the appointment of Ed Mattix as vice president of Corporate Communications.
Mattix has significant experience in developing and implementing strategic communications, brand management and advertising programs, and providing senior executive counsel.He will be responsible for developing and managing the company's internal and external communication programs, including cultivating and leveraging brand awareness, and creating community relations programs.

Mattix's professional career in corporate communications spans three decades.He joins IHS most recently from Fleishman-Hillard Inc., where he was senior vice president and head of the marketing communications group at the agency's Kansas City operation.
Prior to Fleishman-Hillard, Mattix was senior vice president of Corporate Communications and Brand at Covad Communications, a leading national provider of high-speed Internet and Voice over IP (VoIP) services.Before Covad, Mattix served as senior vice president of Public Relations and Brand Management at Sprint Corporation, and as Chief Public Relations Officer for Sprint PCS, and nearly 20 years in senior level positions with U S WEST, including vice president of Public Relations.Ed began his career as a reporter and copyeditor at the Des Moines Register.
Mattix graduated with a Bachelor of Journalism from Drake University in Des Moines, IA.He is an accredited member of the Public Relations Society of America, secretary of the Sam Schmidt Paralysis Foundation, and a board member of the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum.
