While I was playing some Smash Brothers Melee with 30 minutes of E3 to go on the last day, Eric Mattei of Nintendojo [pronounced as two words, ninten and dojo] told me to watch the screen at 3:45 because there was supposed to be some interesting video to be played. He thought it would be a picture of the next Mario game.

Well, after watching the credits and a bunch of psychadelic movies, Nintendo played a video of Phantasy Star Online Version2 (probably the Gamecube version) on the big screen. We already knew that Sega was making that game, unfortunately not Phantasy Star Online 2 (lots of confusion there), so that was nothing special.

Afterwards though, a movie of Banjo-Tooie played where Banjo was in his backpack skipping over some toxic waste. Why would they show an N64 game?I believe that Rare is making a sequel to the Banjo-Kazooie series for Gamecube.

Eric Mattei's Opinion on the Kiddy Console Affairs

The GameCube is a "toy" and that's exactly how Nintendo wants it.Right now they want to capture a bottom line to reinterest developers. They're doing this by making an attractive price for parents to buy at and creating really "intense" games like Luigi's Mansion. The "game machine only" approach is making Nintendo the best toy on the market too.Sitting at a local retailer I noticed that adults came in and bought PS2 and Xbox while parents came in and took the small box and purple non-initimdiating GameCube with a copy Luigi's and maybe Wave Race.

Like I said, not everyone has the same opinion.Eric disagreed with me here, but I am not going to shallowly hide the facts. It is true that Nintendo is targetted to younger gamers since there are more younger gamers, and that is why the GameCube is selling better. One thing still remains however, just because Nintendo (The Japanese people) think they are targetting a younger audience, doesn't mean they are.Maybe they don't even think they're targetting younger kids, maybe it's just certain people. They're not just targeting a younger audience though.I've seen people of all ages playing Nintendo. They are targeting everyone whether they know it or not.
