Irvine, CA, March 29, 2004 - As part of its continued commitment to provide excellent outcomes, improved quality of care and the highest level of customer service to its clients, LifeMasters Supported SelfCare, Inc., a leading provider of disease-management programs and services, today announced the appointments of Meredith Mathews, MD, MPH, to the position of Chief Medical Officer and Jeffrey M. Davis, MD, MPH to the newly-created position of Vice President, Medical Affairs and National Client Services.

Dr. Mathews will play a key role in furthering LifeMasters' continued commitment to the creation of high quality relationships with program participants, empowering them to become active participants in the management of their health and leading to measurable improvement in clinical status and reductions in preventable healthcare utilization.Dr. Mathews' experience combines both chronic disease management and population health improvement with considerable expertise in treating individual patients in a medical practice setting.
Prior to joining LifeMasters, Dr. Mathews was a principal at Dorsey Health Strategies LLC, a nationwide health care consulting firm, offering business advisory and regulatory services for clients within the health care industry.He previously served as the Chief Medical Officer at both the Medica Health Plan in Minnesota and at Premera Blue Cross of Washington and Alaska.Dr. Mathews also served as interim President of the Allina Medical Clinic, overseeing more than 50 clinics and over 400 physicians.
Dr. Mathews' previous experience also includes a variety of clinical and management roles.He served as Vice President of Clinical Services and Information Systems at Pacific Medical Center of Seattle.He was also a full-time faculty member at the University of Washington's Department of Medicine Dr. Mathews received his MD and MPH degrees from the University of Washington and completed his residency training at the Cleveland Metropolitan General Hospital and his fellowship training at the University of Washington.He is board certified in internal medicine and nephrology.
