Mathews excited about visit to Pitt

Rounding out the top five is defensive end McKenzie Mathews who is still up in the air between Boston College, Michigan and Pittsburgh.

McKenzie Mathews, a defensive end from Syracuse, N.Y., and T.J. Porter, a receiver from Pahokee, Fla., citing personal issues and homesickness, briefly left the Pittsburgh team last weekend, but returned to practice on Monday.

NOTE -- Pitt announced that defensive end McKenzie Mathews has quit the team and will transfer to another school.Mathews, a freshman from Syracuse, N.Y., who was one of the highest-rated players among the Panthers' freshman class, quit the team during training camp last year because he was homesick, but returned to the team and made 10 tackles in nine games."McKenzie is uncertain whether he wants to continue playing football," Pitt coach Dave Wannstedt said in a statement.
