    Dr. Matheson, located in Schnabel’s Glen Allen, Virginia office, has more than 30 years of experience in groundwater hydrology and geological engineering on projects throughout the United States and at sites around the world. He has been involved in the evaluation of dewatering requirements for numerous tunnels, buildings, design of groundwater supply wells and well fields, and assessments of the regional hydrogeologic impacts of site development. Dr. Matheson has also evaluated geotechnical design requirements for construction over subway tunnels and provided geotechnical design criteria for tunnel support system design in soil and rock and consults on construction vibration problems. His geological engineering experience includes assessment and design of rock slope and rock tunnel excavation and support requirements, design of rock blasting for construction and mining applications, evaluation of the impacts of blast induced and other construction vibrations on structures, evaluation of seismic hazards for building and dams in high risk seismic zones, design of compaction and seepage control grouting practices; use of geophysical techniques for subsurface investigations to identify subsurface rock profiles and rock fracture zones, evaluation of the subsidence potential above abandoned underground deep mines, and numerical simulation of rock mechanics problems.
