Adam Marx draws on his scientific training, new product development experience, consumer insight practice, and creative facilitation skills to guide companies to be more inventive and create extraordinary new products.As director of concept development at The First Years, Adam guided the generation of nearly 10,000 raw product ideas that are leading toward a broad range of innovative product introductions, from educational toys to safety mechanisms to entirely new children's categories.
Adam focuses on team invention processes that combine consumer insights with exciting technology to generate breakthrough new products and services.His innovation toolbox includes a wide variety of techniques, such as Synectics, Osborne-Parnes, Systematic Inventive Thinking, TRIZ, improvisational methods, Neuro-Linguistic Programming, and others.He is a leader and teacher at the international bi-annual Creative Problem Solving Institute where he introduces people to the potential of applied creativity.
Adam holds bachelor's and master's degrees in computer science from Cornell and Boston University, with concentrations in cognitive psychology and artificial intelligence.He is an inventor who has been published in various journals, holds five patents and has been in televised features for his work on user interface design and technology forecasting.
Adam has held creative positions in companies as diverse as US WEST, Price-Waterhouse, and The First Years.He also started his own software company, Virtual Iron, to create computer-aided design software for customizing Harley-Davidsons.
