   D.C.: Don't know if you can answer, but what is the medical status of the surviving passenger in the crash?
   
   Jerry Markon: We haven't heard any more about her medical status since the day of the accident. I believe she was released that day. And, not surprisingly, I am told she is still very traumatized and wasn't able to provide much help in the investigation.

   Jerry Markon: I'm very sorry for your loss -- and, of course, for the families of all the victims of this terrible Beltway crash. But I'm not sure that the other families are "piling on" the driver. One family member blamed the driver when the news first came out that she had a blood-alcohol level above .02.

   Jerry Markon: I think they tend to define alcohol-related as alcohol being a "factor" in a crash -- as they did here.

   Jerry Markon: I don't think anyone would question that Virginia is tough on drunk driving, especially underage drinking and driving -- especially with what we now know about the State Police position.
