Paul was a tight end for the Argonauts, Blue Bombers and for the eskimos for a season.Anyhow it turns out he is one of my Profs. After football he went on to being marketing manager for the Toronto Blue Jays for 15 years . After which Mr Sherwood Schwarz hired him but then fired him in 3 months.Anyhow He had some really good stories about Mr Schawrz. He is also good friends with the current ownership group.

I remember tight end Paul Markle. He broke into the CFL with the Argos in & around 1968 & came to the Bombers along with qb Don Jonas in May 1971 for center Paul Desjardins & another player that I can't remember. He immediately established himself as a reliable pass catcher & helped elevate Winnipeg from last place in 1970 with 2 wins to a playoff spot in 1971 with 7 wins. Markle was a reliable pass catcher. Not flashy but reliable nonetheless. He was part of a potent Bomber receiving corp which included Winnipegger Bobby Kraemer along with Peter Ribbins who split duties at slot, Jim Thorpe at flanker & Bob Larose at split end. Tell Paul that he is still remembered by long time Bomber fans & that he was appreciated as a player.

I haven't seen Paul in a couple of years, please say hello to him for me!

A number of ex Argos made the jaunt to Winnipeg by trade, including Don Jonas, Jim Thorpe, Bob Swift, Bill Frank, Wally Gabler, Jim Thorpe, Dave Knechtel & Paul Markle in the early 70's.
