Mark's current search partner, Winda, is a female, sable colored German Shepherd.Mark and Winda are operational in trailing, area, human remains detection, and avalanche.Mark has developed Winda into an accomplished and devoted search partner.Her high drive and intense focus on searching is apparent to those observing her work.Mark and Winda share a close bond that enhances their searching abilities.

Mark lives in Red Lodge with his wife Diane and son Nathan, who has become famous for helping with Mark and Winda's search dog training.

Mark's roles in emergency services are numerous.He is an Emergnecy RN at St. Vincent Healthcare in Billings,and has been a volunteer with Red Lodge EMS since 1988.He is a member of the RLEMS Wilderness Team, providing medical care on SAR operations.He is also a member of both Carbon County and Stillwater County Search and Rescue.Mark not only responds to searches regionally for ASD, he is also available to respond nationally and internationally as a member of the 1st Special Response Group.Mark's previous German Shepherd search partners, Shadow and Eiger, were well known in the Montana SAR community and each dog participated in many searches with Mark.Mark's former search partners Shadow and Eiger will forever be remembered for their service.
