   The Court of Appeal in Jos has given permission to Senate President, David Mark to file additional grounds of Appeal in his challenge of the decision of the Election Petitions Tribunal which nullified his election.
   
   The appeal court said it was in the interest of justice to allow the additional grounds.The court, presided over by Justice Zainab Bulkachuwa has consequently fixed June 25 for hearing of final addresses in the case.
   
   The tribunal, sitting in Makurdi had earlier voided the election of David Mark, based on the petition of the ANPP candidate, Abubakar Usman, popularly called Young Alhaji.

   Nigeria's Senate President David Mark has said that the Senate would only consider new states that are economically viable and self-sustaining in the proposed constitutional review.
   
   Speaking on Tuesday in Abuja when he received a political pressure outfit from Ogbadibo Local Government Area of Benue State,`Focus Group', Mark declared that the National Assembly would "never compromise standard" He said the proposed review of the 1999 constitution would offer an opportunity to "correct imbalances in the system".
   
   "We are not unmindful of the desire for state creation and we are going to be impartial and objective in considering requests based on national interest and not on any sentiment,"Mark said.
   
   Mark urged the agitators for state creation to work hard to meet the conditions needed.

   The Office of the Senate President, Senator David Mark, has already been informed of the incident, but has decided to allow the family to formally break the news to Nigerians.The former governor of Imo State in the ill-fated Third Republic was born on October 29, 1935.He obtained a Bachelors Degree in Law from the University of Southampton, Britain.He was chairman of the Nigerian Ports Authority between 1980 and 1983 and was elected governor of Imo State in 1991.In 1999, he won election into the Senate to represent Owerri Senatorial zone and became the first Senate President in the Fourth Republic Senate.
